• Igor Balnozan was awarded the Best Presenter Award at the School of Economics PhD Seminar series by the UNSW Business School.
• Sarah Belet won the FameLab Australia Victorian Semi-finals.
• Alexander Browning was awarded the Lee Segel Prize for ‘Best Student Paper’ by the Society for Mathematical Biology.
• Mary Coupland as team leader, along with her team was awarded the Team Teaching Award by the University of Technology Sydney.
• Susannah Cramb was awarded the Queensland Young Tall Poppy Award by the Australian Institute of Policy and Science.
• Rose Crocker was awarded the T.M. Cherry Prize for best student presentation by the Australia and New Zealand Industrial and Applied Mathematics (ANZIAM).
• Aurore Delaigle was elected a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science.
• Mel Humphries received a Special Commendation to recognise the exceptional work in teaching and learning that academic and professional staff supporting teaching undertook in response to the COVID19 pandemic by The University of Adelaide.
• Rob Hyndman was elected a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences in Australia.
• Dan Li was awarded a Centre Director’s prize for excellence by the QUT Centre for Data Science.
• Yang Lui was awarded a Student Publication Award 2020 (Highly Commended for Mathematic) by the School of Mathematics and Physics at the University of Queensland.
• Yang Lui was awarded a Tutor Award by the School of Mathematics and Physics at the University of Queensland.
• Luca Maestrini won the Young Statistician Showcase Competition of the International Biometric Conference 2020, awarded by the International Biometric Society.
• Gael Martin was elected a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences in Australia.
• Kerrie Mengersen, Susannah Cramb, Earl Duncan and the Australian Cancer Atlas team were awarded an Asia-Pacific Spatial Excellence Award for People and Community.
• Joshua Ross was awarded a Fulbright Future Scholarship by the Fulbright Commission.
• Matthew Simpson was awarded the E.O. Tuck Medal by ANZIAM.
• Aaron Snoswell won first place at the School of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering 3 Minute Thesis Heat at the University of Queensland.
• Aaron Snoswell won first place and People’s Choice Award at the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Information Technology 3 Minute Thesis Final at the University of Queensland.
• Peter Taylor was awarded the Cherry Ripe Prize for best non-student talk by ANZIAM.
• Ian Turner was recognised as a Highly Cited Researcher for 2020 by the Web of Science Group.
• Julie Vercelloni, Kerrie Mengersen, Erin Peterson and the Virtual Reef Diver team were awarded an Asia-Pacific Spatial Excellence Award for People and Community.
• Nicole White was selected by Science Technology Australia as one of its Superstars of STEM.
• Jinran Wu was awarded a QUT SEF High Achiever Award by the Science and Engineering Faculty at the Queensland University of Technology.

In recognition of their outstanding achievements and contributions to the Centre, several ACEMS Members were presented with awards at the 2020 ACEMS Virtual Annual Retreat held in November: 

• Four individual Outstanding Achievements Recognition Awards were awarded to Xuhui Fan, Mel Humphries, Bonsoo Koo and David Warne.
• The individual Impact and Engagement Award was awarded to Paul Wu.
• The Impact and Engagement Award (Group) was awarded to Rob Hyndman, James McGree, Kate Smith-Miles, Kerrie Mengersen, Catherine Leigh, Sevvandi Kandanaarachchi, Priyanga Dilini Talagala, Erin Peterson, Edgar Santos-Fernandez, Puwasala Gamakumara, Benoit Liquetand other members of the Water Quality Anomaly Detection Team.
• Two Outreach Participation Awards were awarded to Sarah Belet and Jack Ford Morgan.
